How long does it take to be a chore to make a daily game? Apparently more than 14 days. Although there are now some clear areas of improvement for our AI Games creator over at FRVR.ai .
We need better tooling to move things around the screen. Telling the AI to move an element by XX pixels gets tiresome very quickly.
We need multi step image generation where users can prompt with an input image or use GenAI to in-paint. This will allow creators true control over the visual look of their games.
In general our asset tab needs to be fully replaced, it’s buggy and not intuitive to work with at all.
Luckily all of the above is either in development or on the “somewhere in the next 3 months” todo.
If you want to make your own games, you can apply for access to the FRVR AI Games creator here (After creating a user). We also have an active Discord that is totally worth joining here.
And with that, here are the games from the past week.
Rougelike - Thursday November 23 2023
By far the most ambitious game I have made so far. As always absolutely everything was made by promoting the AI - Including the z-ordering of sprites!
Merging Zombie Defence - Friday November 24 2023
Yet another experiment into fighting games. The AI kept giving me low saturation assets for zombie related prompts, so I made the game black and white.
Color Towers - Saturday November 25 2023
Saw this game mechanic as a video advertisement in a game I was playing on my phone and thought to myself “Hey that could be fun to make real”… So far it’s been the game I have enjoyed creating and playing the least.
Clock Cascade - Sunday November 26 2023
While I did not enjoy playing or creating the previous game, this game was a joy to create, and it’s so far been the game I have been returning to play the most. There is most definitely a remix of this game incoming as a future daily game.
Circle Tap - Monday November 27 2023
Simple tap game. Not ambitious at all, but I had very limited time so decided set a low bar. All in all the game ended up being enjoyable but forgettable.
HexaGone - Tuesday November 28 2023
The FRVR.ai community has been having fun creating Chain Reaction games. I got inspired by this game to create HexaGone. It’s a fairly simple game to make, so I spend some extra time adding polish to this one.
Tap & Drift - Wednesday November 29 2023
With this one I wanted to do something that is different than anything on the the platform. Surprisingly hard to do, especially the tire tracks took a lot longer than I anticipated it would.
Which one did you like the best?
Previous weeks:
Don’t want to wait a week to play the next set? Then you are in luck as I post the games daily on Twitter
The rougelike has definitely peaked my interest, would love to see a simple rpg system attempted
